Investigation

As a media person, I always had an investigative bent of mind and contributed my bit to this genre of journalism. Way back in The Tribune in 1978, I had exposed the practice of Doping among athletes, which was perhaps the first article of its kind. Later in India Today, I ventured to take a peep into the lives of the militants who were underground with an interview with dreaded Gurbachan Singh Manochal at a hideout in Punjab. Upholding of human rights has also been dear to me and one of my first investigations in India Today related to such violations by security forces in Punjab. I was also the first Indian journalist to be allowed access to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) when working with India Today magazine, then a fortnightly. When I moved into TV journalism, I as Director FMI made a chilling six-part video series on "Confessions of a Punjab Police Cop", which was also a cover story in Outlook magazine.
